I have stayed at this hotel a few times. A few years ago, this was a 1st class property. Although the hotel has slipped a little bit due to age, it is still the 2nd best luxury hotel in the area (the hilton is better, but you'll pay a higher price to stay there) and a great value for the money. The service from the staff is excellent, the food (although pricey) is delicious, and the location can't be beat. It's definitely the best alternative to the Hilton or other lower quality hotels in the area. That being said, the rooms aren't very large, they don't have the English channels like HBO and NATGeo on the TV anymore (like they did 6 months ago, Pearl from HK and CGTV news is still there) and the rooms need to be refreshed (even on the non=smoking floors, there's still an deodorized smell in some of the rooms.) So, new carpets to deal with the cigarette smell, updated TV channels (or option to rent a movie), some power outlets near the bed and some paint touch ups are needed (but it's definitely not a deal breaker). Oh, and 25rmb for a bottle of water? Go to 7-11 at the base of the building and get a giant bottle for 3. These are minor of course and the management is working with these rooms coming to the end of their life cycle until a renovation can be done. The beds are the star; they are big and comfortable and you'll get a great night's rest. In all , the room price is perfectly in line for the surrounding market, and i will definitely return on the future.
