酒店很有特色，装修风格处处围绕着棋文化，特别是一楼的棋博物馆和图书馆，值得一看。34楼的旋转餐厅早餐品种丰富。就是交通略不便，离城市阳台看灯光秀万步行20多分钟，里地铁站也略远，不过可打车弥补，滴滴打车还是方便的。

酒店在钱塘江边，远离闹市区，别有一番清净。顺江边走可到城市阳台，夜晚的灯光秀很迷人。酒店挨着45路公交总站，坐九站地小车桥站下车可直达西湖景区。酒店停车方便，附近有万象城可轻松购物美食。早餐在酒店34层旋转餐厅，很惬意。天元大厦以棋文化为主题，特色鲜明，除客房略局促，一切都很好。
