We booked 3 nights at this five star hotel. In the beginning it looked quite nice. It is also quite nice, but there are some drawbacks. Service at check in is fast, very friendly and helpful. The area behind the hotel,is arranged in a nice quiet park with some arrificial lakes, some small restaurants and a tea house. This area is beautifully designed and good for evening walks in a very quiet environment and fits to a hotel in this category. The rooms are very spacious and furniture looks decent. Noise insulation is veey good. The room is equipped with a small kitchen which is completely unnecessary but ok. I will exclude this from my rating, but to be honest the quality of the cupboards is sub par, not even straight and sluggishly installed. Air conditioning is not working properly. When asking about this we were told to switch it on the lowest temperature and higest fan. Temperature regulation is not functional, this is bad. One of the most important things is the bed and this one is really excellent. Next to the kitchen there is a list of items and how much guest has to pay if broken or stolen. In my opinion the management should have paid more attention to have clean and intact facilities and true five star bathrooms than such lists. See section below what is not fit for a five stars hotel.
But as this is a five stars hotel I must say, there are some things that are truely not five stars, not even 4 stars: I already mentioned the broken air conditioning. In the bathroom many of the wall tiles joints are defect or dirty and in the shower some brown dirt is at the connections of the tiles and the drain. The shower head mounting is loose and not installed properly. The shower is just standard, no thermostat regulation. This also means if another guest is using the shower in parallel it affects the temperature. The whole bathroom floor is not tiles but cheap vinyl with tile picture decoration, which makes the shower floor unnecessary slippery. The toilet is just standard, no heating, not automatic. No electric curtains, come on, every 4 star hotel has this now. Wifi is very slow and I often switched it off to view some websites in china with mobile data. Not good at all.
Breakfast is decent with a good variety of western and chinese dishes. Although there were no fresh boiled noodles and the furniture fits more to a 3 star canteen. Entering the breakfast room
with the hotel supplied slippers is not allowed and we had to sign a waiver so the hotel cannot be held responsible for occurring damages or accidents. This is very ridiculous and again the priorities of the management are off.
I am really sorry to say, cause I like the design and the garden, but as a hotel this is overall lower than 4 stars standard with some major flaws (shower). In the current state it is not worth the money and also not my recommendation. It is really a shame cause most of the deficiencies just show bad management and wrong priorities, the staff and the service orientation of the staff is already very good.
You really need to do better and improve strongly!
